Fleece fabric is a perfect fabric for severe weather conditions. Fleece garment is last-longing and durable. It is available in various colors and imprinted with complex designs. Other than the extreme clothing of winter weather, fleece is also used to make hats, mittens, jackets, and blankets. Polar fleece fabric is a soft, comforting, and enclosing fabric which is made of Polyester. The filaments of polyester are woven into a light cloth that is brushed to give volume to the threads. The polar fleece fabric is also produced from recycled plastic, which also makes it eco-friendly or inexpensive.
HISTORY: This super-soft, warm, and breathable fabric was invented in the 1970s in Massachusetts. The manufacturers imitated the wool, and they just wanted to cut the problems one has to face with the natural wool like it becomes wet when heavy and the requirement of sheep. WOOL VS FLEECE: The Polar Fleece fabric is an ideal material for those who are allergic to the wool. Wool could be itchy sometimes while fleece fabric does not insulate when it is soaked. The polar fleece fabric is lighter in weight and softer than wool. MANUFACTURING: Polar fleece fabric is produced by merging petroleum derivates at high temperature to make a polymer. A thick syrup is produced after the polymer is cooled. The syrup is then pushed into small holes inside a metal disc called Spinneret. When the polymer mixes with the air, it cools and becomes harden, that’s how the syrupy mixture is drained and creates long string fibers. The cloth is then run into a machine called napper. In the napper, the surface of the fabric is raised by the bristles. These filaments are then twisted together and make polar fleece. A shearing machine is used to penetrate the filaments, which gives a soft texture. Some chemicals like Teflon is used to make the fleece water-proof. The Polar fleece fabric suppliers provide a machine-washable fabric that can even dry quickly. The air pockets in the fleece fabric seize a person’s body heat. It increases airflow and evaporates moisture.
